A CYCLIST got into difficulties in flood water at Higher Sandygate, Teigngrace, early today.
The alarm was raised at 7am when the cyclist called 999.
Fire crews from Newton Abbot and Torquay went to the scene along with the water rescue boat from Exmouth.
Firefighters were able to make contact with the cyclist advising him to remain in a safe place.
They then used dry suits and wading sticks to safely follow the path waist deep in water to reach him.
By 9.30am, crews were in the process of deploying the water rescue boat.
