FIRE appliances from Buckfastleigh and Rattery assisted in extracting a casualty from a single vehicle collision on the A38 tonight (Boxing Day).
Crews responded to the scene following reports just before 7pm that a car had left the carriageway and had ended up in hedge on the A38 between Dean and Rattery.
On arriving at the scene crews got to work using hydraulic cutting equipment to release the male casualty who was trapped. They shortly followed this with a request for an additional fire appliance which attended from Ivybridge.
The casualty was extricated by the fire service and handed to the ambulance service who took him by land ambulance to hospital.
