COASTGUARDS from Dawlish and Teignmouth RNLI lifeboat were called out to help a child who was injured.
Both rescue teams were alerted to reports of a child with what was said to be a severe hand injury.
They joined colleagues from Brixham and Torquay coastguard rescue teams at the scene at Long Quarry in Torquay.
Teignmouth’s lifeboat crew, who were training in the area at the time, were also called in and were at the scene quickly.
Brixham coastguard reported that the child’s injury was not as bad as had been first reported.
Two of the three teams were stood down.
The youngster was safely brought ashore by Teignmouth lifeboat and taken for further medical treatment.
