ASHBURTON’S Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team received their eighth call out of the year yesterday (Tuesday, March 2)
The team were contacted by Devon and Cornwall Police at 1.35pm to assist South West Ambulance Service with the extraction of a lady suffering from a broken ankle on the northern side of Haytor Rocks.
After contacting the lady directly to assess the situation, a limited callout was initiated with the plan of taking a small number of team members and a Land Rover to the casualty’s location.
However, no sooner had the team been mobilised when they received the information that South West Ambulance Service’s Hazardous Area Response Team had arrived on the scene and would be using their four-wheel drive vehicle to bring the casualty down to the road.
The team were stood down at just before 2pm.
