POLICE have launched an appeal for witnesses following yesterday’s road accident which left an 80-year-old woman seriously hurt.
The woman was taken to Derriford Hospital with what police describe as life changing injuries after the collision in Exeter Road.
Police were called just before midday to reports of a collision involving a mobility scooter and a blue Peugeot car.
Emergency services attended the scene.
The driver of the car was not injured.
Exeter Road was closed for more than three hours while investigations were carried out.
Schools on Elm Grove Road, near the scene of the accident, had to make alternative arrangements with parents to collect children as there was no access to the road.
Officers from the Roads Policing Team say they would like to thank the public for their patience whilst the road is closed.
Police are appealing for any witnesses that have not already spoken to them, but who may have seen the collision, or have dashcam footage.
Anyone who can help is asked to contact police through the website or by calling 101 quoting reference number 50240287671.
