POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a road accident involving an Asda juggernaut left two people badly injured.
The crash happened on the westbound carriageway of the A30 at Cheriton Bishop in the early hours of Friday when the truck collided with a Mercedes which had broken down.
The truck driver, aged 60 and from Weston Super Mare, was trapped in his overturned cab for several hours.
He was eventually flown by air ambulance to Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital.
A passenger in the Falmouth-registered Mercedes was taken by ambulance to the RD&E Hospital in Exeter.
The Mercedes had broken down and was partially in the inside lane when the collision happened, police revealed.
The road was closed for 15 hours while officers from the Serious Collisions Investigation Team examined the scene
The road had to be repaired.
