TEIGNMOUTH & District u3a has recently reached an extraordinary milestone in its short, yet remarkable, history.
Peter Hayes, Publicity Officer, explains: ‘Tim and Shirley Williams, as guests, decided to attend the Atmospheric Railway presentation by Martin Brown at the monthly gathering in Teignmouth’s Baptist Church.
‘Following the very informative and entertaining talk, together with some mingling amongst members at the refreshments afterwards, they took the decision to join u3a, there and then!
‘u3a Membership Co-ordinator , Tricia Forrester warmly welcomed Tim and Shirley to our growing population.
‘Although they signed together it was kind of Tim to suggest that Shirley had the number 400 recognition!
‘In fact, Tim and Shirley are no strangers to u3a, having been members in Pembrokeshire and Newton Abbot prior to moving to Teignmouth.’
Shirley said: ‘Tim and I attended the recent u3a Information Day at the Pavilion Theatre and with the added inspiration from today’s talk, it was a very easy decision to sign up.’
