FOR the fifth year running a shoebox appeal has been launched in Newton Abbot to provide Christmas cheer to the homeless people and anyone in need.
Once again it is being run by Chair of the *, from her offices at Westcountry HR, a human resources consultancy.
‘Please support the appeal and bring in shoeboxes or parcels with items that will ensure someone can have a warm and cheerful Christmas,’ says Nicki.
With the cost of living problems the need is as great as eve this year.
The aim of the appeal is to support the homeless population of Newton Abbot by gifting them with a ‘ShoeBox’.
The ‘ShoeBox’ should be a buddle of essential goods with a particular focus on goods helping with heat retention and personal hygiene; a typical bundle, therefore, could include such items as thermals and baby wipes.
Other items that are welcome include but are not limited to: hats, scarfs, socks, toothpaste, shower gel, sanitary towels and sweets.
It must be said that: alcohol, money, painkillers, lighters and razors will not be accepted.
The ShoeBox’s are given as Christmas presents to those who, as sad as it is to say, will likely be facing an accutely stark festive period: those who are homeless in and around Newton Abbot for instance.
ShoeBox’s should be dropped off at Westcountry HR, Minerva House, 2 Highweek Street, Newton Abbot, TQ12 1TQ.
